Al Feliu has represented clients in all aspects of employment law and
in a wide variety of commercial settings for over forty years. Early in
his career, after clerking for a federal judge, he represented management
clients at prestigious international law firms, most notably with Paul
Hastings, where he became a partner in 1991. In 1998, Mr. Feliu co-founded
Vandenberg & Feliu, LLP, where he headed its Employment Law and Alternative
Dispute Resolution practices. While at Vandenberg & Feliu, he expanded
his practice to include the counseling and representation of executives
and employees. In June, 2016, Mr. Feliu established the Law Office of
Alfred G. Feliu, PLLC, following the merger of Vandenberg & Feliu
with a mid-size California firm.
Mr. Feliu's legal advice is rooted in his wealth of experience from a
multitude of perspectives - as counsel to management and individuals,
as a neutral mediating disputes and resolving them as an arbitrator, and
investigating such disputes as an independent investigator. Mr. Feliu's
focus is on finding solutions to his clients' legal and business disputes
rather than on promoting adversarial options. It is no coincidence that
the first of his four books, published in 1988, was.titled "Resolving
Employment Disputes Without Litigation." Mr. Feliu is a former Chair
of the Labor & Employment Law Section of the New York State Bar Association,
and served as the EEO Officer for the Port of New York and New Jersey
from 2006 to 2026. He is also a Fellow of the College of Labor & Employment
Lawyers and College of Commercial Arbitrators, for which he is on its
Board, and has been selected as a Super Lawyer every year since 2009.
